Everyone loves sweet tea. The Texan that I live with loves sweet tea.
In the short time I spent living in the South, I learned to love the drink that everyone talks about, and even writes country songs about. I was never a fan of just HOW sweet it was, though. So, I came up with my own mixtures of it. Later on, I started mixing in the regular Luzianne tea with flavored teas– peach being the absolute favorite.
Here is my version of “Sweet Tea”, with a little liquor added at the end, just for fun:
On the stove, boil 2 quarts of water.
Add 1 large bag of Luzianne tea, or 5-6 regular sized bags of Lipton tea. Use 4-5 bags of Peach tea (my favorite is Celestial Seasonings)
After boiling for about 5 minutes, take the tea bags out and add 2/3 cup of sugar or honey. This is the step where the southerners would add much more sugar, but I cut back a bit.
Put in a large pitcher or glass jug, and add 2 more quarts of water or the equivalent in ice.
Once it’s in your glass, mix in a shot of vodka– I used Svedka Clementine Vodka on this occasion, YUM!
